Accessories Building #15 – Expansion Explodes!

Saturday, August 18th, 2012

Where Building #15 stands now were three early stores: Chappell’s department store, an eatery, and a men’s shop. Later on, the Baldwin family purchased the three stores, combining them into one family department store where many area residents shopped.

In the early 90’s, Kyle Baldwin retired and sold the building to Green Front Furniture.  It was perfect timing since Green Front Accessories was expanding, importing additional products through their travels across the globe in search of beautiful and unique home décor.

Stepping into Building #15 now will amaze even the most seasoned buyer.  At every turn, the gorgeous displays of furniture and accessories will make you feel at home.

If you are searching for a rug other than one of the million oriental rugs Green Front has in stock, Building #15 is loaded with 2×3, 5×8, and 8×10 rugs from Loloi to Kas that will fit any style.  Unique textures, designs, colors, in both transitional and contemporary styles.

Manufacturers found in Building #15 include Sherrill, CTH SherrillMotioncraft, Wesley Hall, Lauren Grey, Four Hands, Uttermost, Loloi Rugs, Kas Rugs, Fanimation, Murray Feiss, and CTH Occasional.

Green Front Accessories Building #5 – Where Green Front Began

Saturday, August 18th, 2012

In the mid 1950’s, there were three storefronts where this one building is now.

In one of the stores, Dickie Cralle’s father opened a grocery store, Green Front Grocery, which specialized in meats.  Soon thereafter, one of the adjacent stores became available and Mr. Cralle bought it, deciding to sell furniture.  So began the story of Green Front Furniture.

Later in the mid 1960’s, Mr. Cralle sold the buildings to Leggett’s and moved up the street to Building#1, where Green Front’s main store is now. Leggett’s later tore down these three storefronts, replacing them with a more modern building. But in the early 80’s, Leggett’s moved out to a shopping center on the outskirts of town, as most downtown businesses did, and Green Front was able to purchase the building and expand into the accessory market. Green Front Accessories was born.

Manufacturers found in Building #5 include American DrewArtisticaLea FurnitureHammaryPaladin, Design Master, Cooper ClassicHoward Miller, Brooks, CMI, Port 68, Laftbank Art, Olliix Bedding, Curry & CoEastern Accents, Denny Lamps, Freidman Brothers, Majestic, Mystic Valley, ParagonPossible Dreams, Sedgefield, Timeworks, and Wildwood.
