Did you know: For our #ArchitectureLovers, there’s an interesting twist to 2315 Monument Avenue. William Bottomley turned his design sideways to fit the narrow lot. When you enter through the left courtyard, protected by a wooden gate, you’re stepping into what William O’Neal and Christopher Weeks described as, “a very private enclave which was, perhaps, the most ideal of all his urban spaces in Richmond…The entire lot has been brought into a harmonious architectural scheme entirely shut off from the world and full of surprises.”
